Smoke would greatly help remedy that as DLC for Mortal Kombat 11. Mortal Kombat 11 is also heavily lacking in male ninjas, which is a large popular part of the series. He received Tomas Vrbada as a name, and gained a unique hairstyle as welll as having a more traditional ninja alternate design which he kept as his revenant form when he briefly appeared in Mortal Kombat X. Since the 2011 game his design, moveset, and backstory improved greatly from his previous appearances making him stand out and gain a larger fanbase. As his name implies he has power over smoke itself.

He debuted as a secret character to fight against in Mortal Kombat 2, and made his playable debut as a cyborg and a ninja in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. He was last playable as a human with a cyborg skin in Mortal Kombat (2011), and as a cyborg variation for Triborg in Mortal Kombat X.

Smoke is one of the series palette swapped ninja, sporting the grey color. Like other returning characters that were revenants such as Jade and Kabal, he could have both a living and revenant outfit for customization. Perhaps they could take it a step further and have him turn into a wolf (especially now how Kotal Kahn can turn into a jaguar), or at least have him summon wolves to aid him. While he was enjoyable to play as back then, I feel with how characters have evolved moveset wise in Mortal Kombat 11, Nightwolf has a lot of potential to be one of the most visually appealing DLC character in Mortal Kombat 11 when it comes to fighting style. He could make green constructs such as tomahawks and bow and arrows to fight. Nightwolf debuted in Mortal Kombat 3, and was last playable in Mortal Kombat (2011). He died sacrificing himself to kill Sindel in the 2011 entry, and made a very brief appearance as a revenant in Mortal Kombat X. He was a powerful shaman who always fought on the side of good, and was a good contrast to the more martial arts or militaristic Earthrealm warriors. It would be amazing to see both of them come together after all of these years.

It would also be great to have another video game guest, as the last time that happened was Kratos in the PS3 and Vita versions of Mortal Kombat (2011). Lastly, both Mortal Kombat and Doom basically created the ESRB back in the early 90’s.
While his design is fairly basic and sadly wouldn’t be able to say much to the cast, Doomslayer lets his actions speak for themselves, and the custom variation system could at least allow player design choice and designs from various Doom games. Doom: Eternal also features Doomslayer using a “Predator style” double-bladed arm claw. The Doomslayer (Or Doomguy as he’s been known for longer), is the main character of the iconic FPS called Doom. Despite it being a shooter, Doomslayer could easily use all the powerful weapons he’s had over the years such as the Super Shotgun, Chainsaw, and/or BFG, as well his brutal brawling attacks he performs in the Glory Kills from Doom (2016). His DLC addition to Mortal Kombat 11 could also be used to cross-promote Doom: Eternalwhich also slated for later this year. He’s also very relevant as IT had a critically acclaimed remake in 2017, along with a sequel coming out later this year. Fatalities of his could involve showing his true form, or killing the characters in ways that victims were murdered in the movies/book he’s from. His abilities are far more supernatural as well, and could offer a far more colorful moveset (not to say there was anything wrong with the previous horror guests). Unlike Jason Vorhees, Leatherface, Alien, and Predator, Pennywise can actually talk and have humorous and interesting intro dialogue with the characters in the roster.

Mortal Kombat is no stranger to horror movie DLC characters, and Pennywise would fit that mold but could also offer more that previous couldn’t. While he looks like just a creepy clown, he is actually an interdimensional being that preys on the fears of people (especially children) and devours them. Pennywise the Dancing Clown is the antagonist of the movie called IT, based off of Stephen King’s novel of the same name.
